Why it helps on GLP-1
Cold, mild proteins are easier to tolerate when GLP-1 medications slow gastric emptying. Ginger settles nausea, lemon brightens flavor without heaviness, and lean chicken preserves muscle mass during weight loss.
Ingredients
- 011.5 lb (680 g) boneless skinless chicken breast
- 026 cups water
- 031 thumb fresh ginger, sliced
- 042 lemons (1 sliced, 1 juiced)
- 051 tsp salt
- 062 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
- 071 tbsp olive oil
- 08Cracked black pepper, to taste
Instructions
- 1
In a wide pot, combine water, ginger slices, sliced lemon, and salt. Bring to a gentle simmer.
- 2
Lower chicken into the liquid. Reduce heat so the surface barely shimmers (no bubbles).
- 3
Poach uncovered for 14–16 minutes, until internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
- 4
Transfer chicken to a plate and refrigerate uncovered for at least 30 minutes, or until fully chilled.
- 5
Slice thinly. Drizzle with olive oil, lemon juice, parsley, and black pepper before serving.
GLP-1 notes
- ·Eat in small portions — 3–4 oz is plenty for most GLP-1 users.
- ·Pair with a few crackers or rice if you tolerate carbs well.
- ·Save poaching liquid as a light broth for the next day.
